BOOK: SIX OF CROWS

Tags/Prompts:

1. Altered States - Character is out of it due to pain: I could honestly see this for any character/pairing, but particularly imagine Kaz being out of it due to pain and that leading him to be more open/honest with Inej than usual (probably set either pre-canon or during canon, but I could see post-canon, too.) Or if you want to flip it and it's Inej being out of it due to pain and Kaz needing to be there for her.
2. Alternate Universe - Assassins & Hitmen: This one pretty much speaks for itself. Maybe it's still Per Haskell's gang but he has the Crows doing assassinations rather than just standard gang business? Maybe Inej made a name for herself as an assassin and that's what drew Kaz's attention? Maybe it's just a general AU where the characters are more morally grey? More of the Crows being badasses in alternate plot lines always works for me.
3. Alternate Universe - Firefly Setting: Space smugglers! An AU where Ketterdam is a planet or moon and all the gangs are different crews! I'm always a sucker for space AUs and would love to see the SOC gang space-edition.
4. Alternate Universe - Villain Wins: This is Darkest Night Ex, so darker works too! For villain-winning, I'm happy with either Van Eck or Pekka. Maybe it's the Grisha being kidnapped and jurda being widely distributed? Maybe it's Pekka and Van Eck successfully teaming up and defeating the Crows? Maybe it's the Crows on the run out of Ketterdam and planning a return? I'm always down for a defeated Kaz needing to pick himself back up.
5. Alternate Universe - Zombie Apocalypse: I'm also always a sucker for zombie apocalypse AUs! For this, I'd imagine a modern setting rather than zombies infesting Ketterdam, but either works. Maybe modern AU Crows have fled their home base city and are now trying to survive out on the road? Maybe this is a few years post-apocalypse and the Crows are in some sort of established human settlement where Pekka or Van Eck are ruling as corrupt leaders? Whichever direction, I'm always down for characters in a post-apocalyptic setting.
6. Alternate Universe - The Old Guard: Immortal characters AU! For this, I'd also imagine a more standard universe AU rather than grishaverse. I'd definitely see Kaz as the oldest immortal, but it could also be Per Haskell collecting younger immortals but declining in leadership before Kaz takes over. Whether you want to go modern setting or historical, I'm totally down, but I'd love to see the group dynamic of the Crows as TOG-style immortals.
7. Amnesia - Forgets Significant Other/Their Life Together: Hell yeah, let's get angsty! For this, I'm particularly envisioning Kaz/Inej, but not even necessarily post-canon once they've gotten together, but pre-canon or during canon when they're just very close and have a large measure of trust and respect between them. Does Inej lose her memory of everything that happened after leaving Tante Heleen's? Does Kaz lose his memory of Inej? Does he lose his memories of the Crows altogether? Feel free to replace "significant other" with "very close friend" and sub in any of the other Crows, either as the memory loser or the one being forgotten.
8. Injuries - Bloody and Bruised: What it says on the tin. I'm absolutely a sucker for characters being bruised and beaten while someone else tends to them.
9. Plot - Afterlife/Underworld Rescue: This one would definitely be more magical AU. Maybe it's Kaz getting killed prematurely and Inej calling on a Grisha to help her stage some sort of near-death, underworld rescue with the other Crows? Maybe it's the same set-up but Inej is the one who's dead and Kaz is leading her rescue? Maybe one of them died while sacrificing themselves for the other? Maybe it's a full Greek mythology-esque AU where the underworld is a real place and one or the other goes down to beg for the life of the deceased?
10. Plot - Badass in Distress: I'm also into badass protagonists being in trouble. Pick which badass you want, pick the trouble they're in, and I'm there. Do they need to be rescued? Do they have to save themselves? Does something happen that intercedes and narrowly saves them? How do the others react to them having been in distressed?
11. Plot - Faking Recovery So Others Will Stop Worrying About You: This is a close cousin to one of my other favorite tropes, "Hiding an Injury." For this, I tend to go more physical injury than mental, but either works. Bonus points for, at some point, someone noticing and calling them out, expressing their frustration and also care in a moment of either platonic or romantic intimacy.
12. Trapped - Trapped Together: How are they trapped together? Who cares! Were they kidnapped? Locked in a cell? Roof of an old building collapsed? Either way, I'm down for characters (either romantic pairings or platonic) stuck in a situation that's worrying but also gives them time to ruminate and bond (ultimately working together to escape.)

MOVIE: EDGE OF TOMORROW

Relationships: Rita Vrataski/William Cage

1. Altered States - Character is out of it due to pain: What it says on the tin, for either Cage or Vrataski
2. Altered States - Temporary Paralysis: Maybe as part of one the loops before Cage has a chance to reset things?
3. Alternate Universe - Annihilation Fusion: For this, I imagine a modern AU setting rather than Annihilation plus Edge of Tomorrow-verse. Rita leads J-Squad into the Shimmer and Cage gets roped in by a military higher-up? Maybe there's still a time loop element (for either Cage or Vrataski) and every time they experience some new element of the Shimmer while trying to find their way to the center? 
4. Alternate Universe - Gladiators: Gladiator AU! Rather than going for a Rome setting, maybe it's some sort of post-apocalyptic scenario where gladiator matches are the new current form of entertainment? Rita's still the "Angel of Verdun" but she's earned the nickname by being the reigning champ, not taking out Mimics. Cage experiences some sort of fall from grace and ends up in the ring, too? Feel free to add the time loop element or not.
5. Alternate Universe - Pacific Rim Fusion: Drift-compatible Cage and Vrataski! Maybe instead of Kaiju, the world is under assault from souped-up Mimics and Jaegers are the answer? I feel like their dynamic is very suited to Jaeger co-pilots and would be super down to see that.
6. Alternate Universe - The Old Guard: Immortals Cage and Vrataski! For this, I'd also imagine more of a modern AU where Rita is the Andy-esque original immortal who later finds herself saddled with Cage, but I'd also be down for a play on the time loop element where Alpha blood gives them immortality instead of just the ability to reset the day. Or maybe it's the Mimic invasion in a world in which Cage and Vrataski are already immortal? Or Cage gains immortality and Vrataski realizes he's now her best ally in the fight? Any interplay of time loops vs. immortality (or just a straight up TOG AU) is fine with me.
7. Alternate Universe - Wings: Do I have a specific idea in mind for this? No. Do I think Vrataski deserves an actual pair of wings? Absolutely. Maybe this is just the movie but some people have wings? Maybe the wings are a tech advancement to help soldiers fight Mimics in addition to the mech armor? Either way, I'm down for a world where Rita has wings. 
8. Alternate Universe - Zombie Apocalypse: EOT is pretty post-apocalypse adjacent anyway, so just sub zombies for Mimics. Rita is a battle-worn survivor who comes across the somehow still-alive Cage and shows him the ropes? They meet in some sort of post-apocalypse zombie hideout? Zombies plus time loops? Have fun with it, but I'm always a sucker for zombie apocalypse AUs.
9. Apocalypse - Post-Apocalyptic Survival: For this, feel free to go either generic post-apocalypse or more specific, post-apocalypse following a Mimic victory. Any of the above ideas for zombie apocalypse (minus the zombies) would absolutely work here.
10. Apocalypse - The World Becomes a Death Game: No specific plot ideas, this one just sounded cool.
11. Carrying - One Character Carrying Another: Preferably for Vrataski carrying Cage, but reversed works as well.
12. Dreams - Nightmares: Post-canon, maybe? Rita or Cage haunted by time loop-fueled nightmares? 
13. Dynamic - Only Two Left Alive: AU where Rita gets dosed with Alpha blood again and she and Cage or stuck in a time loop together? Something goes wrong that gives them Mimic survival abilities so they manage to stay alive while the rest of the war is lost?
14. Effect - Character Survived Their Adventures/Ordeal But Will Never Be The Same Again: Self explanatory. What happens to post-canon Cage and Vrataski?
15. Plot - Afterlife/Underworld Rescue: This one definitely requires more magical bending, but it sounds like fun! You could also play around to fit this more into canon, like maybe the afterlife/underworld is some sort of result of getting killed by Mimics? Ideally Vrataski rescuing Cage, but reversed works too.
16. Horror - Character Discovers They Aren't As Human As They Thought They Were: Maybe a post-canon setting where Cage and Vrataski discover that the Alpha blood is still part of them and affecting them somehow? Maybe there's another reason why the Alpha blood affected them and allowed them to access the time loops?
17. Plot - Badass in Distress: What it says on the tin, for either Vrataski or Cage
18. Plot - Dimension Hopping To Find A Timeline That Isn't Doomed: Maybe swap the time loop ability for dimension hopping ability? Rita traveled through different universes before finding one where they win at Verdun? Cage does the same until finding one where they kill the Omega?
19. Resurrection - came back wrong: Whether set during the time loops or as a post-canon thing works.
20. Time - memories of repeatedly trying and failing to break free of time loop: Self-explanatory, for Vrataski or Cage
21. Angst: Just a general flavor note -- feel free to go in an angsty direction, but not required.
22. Immortality - Burdens of Immortality: For either an Old Guard AU or an AU where the time loop is replaced by immortality.
23. Mental - memories of repeatedly dying: Also for either.
24. Identity - Loss of Identity: Maybe a side effect of experiencing the loop so many times?
25. Death - Repeatedly Killed and Resurrected: Maybe Alpha blood gives them the ability to regenerate instead of looping time?
26. Plot - Heroes Lose // Plot - The War Was Lost: What it says on the tin. Bring on that post-war, post-apocalypse worldbuilding!
27. Alternate Universe - Bad Ending: Either in terms of self-sacrifice not working, or the characters who die not coming back. Though, if only one is going to survive and shoulder the deaths of the others, I prefer it be Vrataski over Cage.
28. Scars: Mental or physical, for either.
29. Amnesia - False Memories: Another effect of the time loop, either as it's ongoing or post-canon?
30. Trapped - Trapped in Another Universe: Maybe both Vrataski and Cage get shunted from a normal world to an AU-verse where the Mimic war is happening and that's how they meet?

MOVIE: READY OR NOT

1. Alternate Universe - Cults: I mean, this is basically already canon, but maybe instead of the game just being isolated to the Le Domas family, it's a much bigger ritual, or part of a much bigger network? 
2. Alternate Universe - Southern Gothic: The setting is pretty ambiguous, as far as I remember, so if you wanted to relocate it to somewhere in the South and lean into that aesthetic, I'd be there for it.
3. Alternate Universe - Zombie Apocalypse: Maybe instead of Daniel and Grace fighting back against the Le Domases (Le Domi?) it's them facing down a zombie apocalypse? I'd be very down for that shot of Grace looking at herself in the dress and sneakers and shotgun but she's gearing up to fight zombies instead of her in-laws. Maybe there's some new kind of post-apocalypse civilization where the Le Domases are in charge? Maybe there's some sort of weird zombie sacrificial element that Grace gets pulled into and Daniel helps her?
4. Dark Fairy Tale Elements: Also essentially canon but with a twist. Maybe instead of Le Bail being Satan-esque, he's some sort of fae creature, or some other supernatural being? Maybe there are wishes involved, or magic mirrors, or cursed fruit, or something else altogether. It's already canon that people can sell their souls for prosperity, so how else might similar supernatural events occur in the rest of the world?
5. Death - Resurrection: If you want to just do a canon divergence AU where Le Bail resuscitates Daniel as an acknowledgment for him turning on his family, I'm totally there for it.
6. Death - Trapped Between Life And Death: Alternatively, Le Bail punishes Daniel in a different sense and he resurrects from his wound to a half-life (maybe a la Pirates of the Caribbean, without the skeletons in the moonlight.) Maybe he's alive, but with limited ability to experience the world around him? Maybe he's immortal but stuck in this liminal space? The rest of the family did explode, so all bets are off as to how Le Bail might react to someone seemingly reneging on the bargain.
7. Demons - Demonic Possession: Le Bail possesses Daniel? Le Bail possesses Grace? Le Bail possesses Alex? A different demon possesses another character altogether? Who knows, but I'm here for it.
8. Dynamic - Only Two Left Alive: Whether this is post-canon Grace and Daniel or some sort of post-apocalypse AU, I'm down for the two of them being survivors together.
9. Horror - Character Discovers They Aren't As Human As They Thought They Were: Down for Grace or Daniel, but was definitely specifically thinking Daniel. Maybe after he's seemingly killed, he comes back to life but he's a little different? Maybe Le Bail's curse manifests in some sort of trippy physical way? Maybe all the Le Domases are partially ghosts, or partially demons, or partially something else altogether?
10. Horror - Survival Horror: I'm also very here for a canon divergence AU where it's Grace and Daniel running from the rest of the family, either trying to escape the house or being chased through the woods. This could also work with the Cult AU if you wanted to expand the playing field and number of families that are hunting them.
11. Injuries - Hiding Injury: I'm a sucker for this trope, works for Daniel or Grace (but preferably Daniel.)
12. Mental - Struggling for forgiveness: AU where Daniel survives but the rest of his family is dead and so how does he handle that? It's pretty hard not to blame himself and even if they were fucked up, he did still love them, in his own way. How would he cope with losing Alex in particular? 
13. Plot - Afterlife/Underworld Rescue: Daniel dies and Grace decides that's not how the story's going to end. Le Bail did give her that nod of respect, so maybe she makes a gambit of her own and asks for the chance to bring Daniel back? Feel free to go as surreal with the underworld as you want, or more Greek mythology-esque where the entrance to the underworld is a place that can be visited and traveled through.
14. Resurrection - came back wrong: Le Bail goes easy on Daniel and brings him back, but fucks him up just enough that Daniel understands he's also being punished for the ritual's failure. How is he fucked up? Dealer's choice.
15. Time - Time Loop: Alternate Le Bail punishment, Daniel resurrects but he's stuck in a time loop of that evening, and no matter how hard he tries, he can't figure out a world where he saves Grace and himself.
16. Trapped - Trapped in a Dream World: Maybe it's just Daniel, or him and Grace, or the whole Le Domas gang? Maybe the whole movie takes place in a dreamscape? Maybe this is where Daniel wakes up after he's been killed? 
17. Angst: Feel free to lean into the angst here, particularly with respect to Daniel.
18. Effect - Character Survived Their Adventures/Ordeal But Will Never Be The Same Again: What it says on the tin. What does post-canon Grace and Daniel look like?
19. Magic - Blood Magic: Maybe Grace finds a trippy book in the library and plays with magic of her own? Maybe Daniel has a few tricks he's picked up over the years? Maybe the Le Domas dabbling with the dark arts isn't limited to Le Bail? I'm down for a little extra supernatural in this story.

1. Altered States - Alcohol: Whether it's Boyd or Raylan or Tim getting drunk (or both members of any pairing), I'm here for it. I tend to favor Drinking and Talking fics, but don't feel limited to that.
2. Altered States - Character is out of it due to pain: Again, dealer's choice on who's out of it due to pain and what the scenario is. Raylan is badly injured and relying on Boyd? Boyd gets hurts and Raylan has to help him out? Tim or Raylan getting injured while on assignment? Maybe there's some sort of out-of-it confession, or the injured party mistakes who they're speaking to?
3. Alternate Universe - Bad Ending: I'm sort of down for whichever direction you want to take this. What does a bad ending mean for any of the different characters? How do they react? 
4. Alternate Universe - Southern Gothic: Okay, I know the story is very distinctly not set in the South, so let's say this is more about leaning into the Eastern Kentucky vibe of the story. Anything that really focuses on Harlan as a sort of character itself.
5. Alternate Universe - The Old Guard: Man, I am so here for immortals Raylan and Boyd who started off as friends and then grew apart but they're both immortal and can't help but crossing paths. Or maybe the whole Marshals crew (Tim, Rachel, Raylan, Art) are the immortal ones? Adding immortality into any of these dynamics sounds incredibly fun, so I'm here for it.
6. Apocalypse - Post-Apocalyptic Survival: I'm very here for post-apocalypse settings, so whatever AU you want to go with, and whichever couple or characters you want to focus on, I'm down.
7. Betrayal - Aftermath of betrayal: What it says on the tin, for either Raylan betraying Boyd or Boyd betraying Raylan.
8. Death - Repeatedly Killed and Resurrected: Honestly, I think this would be cool for any of the characters. Boyd can't die no matter what shady shit he gets himself caught up in? Raylan gets a reputation among the Marshals as the man who can't die? Tim knowing there was shit in Afghanistan he shouldn't have survived but did anyway? I'm here for it.
9. Dynamic - Only Two Left Alive: Mainly thinking about Raylan and Boyd for this one, whether it's just a particularly violent encounter or some sort of post-apocalypse set-up.
10. Dynamic - Uneasy Allies: Man, the season one finale continues to be one of my favorites for the Raylan/Boyd team-up. I'm so here for more of that, whatever the circumstance might be.
11. Horror - Folk Horror: Very here for amping up the eerie vibe of Harlan. Maybe Raylan and Boyd stumbled into some unexplainable shit when they were kids? Maybe things don't work in Harlan the way that they should? Maybe Raylan doesn't realize how off Harlan is until he comes back?
12. Injuries - Hiding Injury: What it says on the tin, for any of the characters.
13. On the Run: Mainly Boyd, but maybe some shit happened that's got Raylan on the run, or the two of them on the run together, reluctantly teaming up.
14. Resurrection - came back wrong: Mainly Boyd or Raylan. Maybe one of them died when they were younger and came back but a little bit off? Maybe they both died in the mine collapse and somehow found themselves alive on the other side? Maybe when Raylan shoots Boyd in the pilot, he actually dies and then comes back to life? Whichever direction you want to take this, I'm here for casual supernaturalism in my Justified.

16. Trapped - Trapped Together: Maybe it's Boyd and Raylan trapped together in the mine collapse when they were nineteen? Maybe it's Raylan and Tim pinned down in the middle of an assignment? Maybe it's Raylan and Boyd come together against a different group of baddies and get themselves trapped? Very here for this trope.
